This fine art print is the album cover picture of “A Broken Frame,” the second album of the band Depeche Mode, shot by the legendary British photographer Brian Griffin. Life Magazine named it the photograph of the decade 1980 -1990.

This photograph features a woman with her back to the viewer, using a scythe in a corn field under a dramatic sky, dressed as a Russian peasant and posed in a cornfield near Duxford RAF Museum in Cambridge. This image was shot shortly before the record's release.

For a decade between the late 1970s through the 1980s, Brian was a highly sought-after photographer for record labels, band managers and artists themselves, all scrambling to book him to produce eye-catching album covers, single bags and publicity shots. Brian Griffin invented technical tricks to turn 80s pop into an edgy visual wonderland. Many of his images are rare vintage prints, captured prior to the digital age of photography when technical proficiency and ingenuity was a must.

This image was mastered from the original negative or digital image and published under a licensing agreement and is printed on high quality archival fine art paper. Each print comes with an authorized Certificate of Authenticity.
